Congratulations on being accepted to teach on the Talaera platform! We truly hope you're experience here is second to none. To that end, we'd like to point out a few of the more common features of the system, including the more important ones to familiarize yourself with initially. Should you have any other questions above and beyond what's discussed here, you can find plenty of help at help.talaera.com or feel free to reach out to us at any time if you can't find what you're looking for.
First Things First
When you signed up with Talaera, you should have been provided with a username and password. You can use those credentials to access the Talaera website.
The main screen is the My Dashboard screen, which displays your Teaching Calendar, Upcoming Sessions and Completed Sessions. Of course, when you first start, you will not have any Completed or Upcoming Sessions.
โ
Setting your Availability
Before students are able to book sessions with you, we need to know your availability to teach. You can set your availability through the Teaching Calendar. Once you've done that, Talaera knows which times it can schedule a lesson with you.
Your First Student
Typically, you will be matched with students whose English language needs and goals are well-suited to your teaching style and experience. Once a student is matched with you, you will receive an email notification from Talaera with some details about your new student. Since we try to provide a single teacher for any given student, it is quite likely that your first session with the student will also be the student's first lesson with Talaera.
Anytime you are matched with a new student, your first session will be automatically scheduled for you. In addition to an email notification, you will see the session appear on your teaching calendar and in your Upcoming Sessions list. Sessions like this are always marked in a similar fashion, typically titled Meet your teacher.
๐ฉIMPORTANT: A session should never be cancelled or rescheduled by the teacher unless it is mutually agreed upon between teacher and student. Sessions cannot be canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the session time. In an emergency situation, please reach out to us.
โ
Providing Feedback and Practice Content
There are two types of feedback within the Talaera system. A Learning Plan should be provided by you, within 24 hours of the first session with a student and need only be provided once. Session Feedback should be provided after each session with that student. It is in the Session Feedback that you will typically provide the student with supplemental work, practice exercises and the like.
โ
Invoicing
It is important to make sure that all lessons with students are booked through the Talaera system as it is these bookings that will be used to generate your monthly invoice.
As always, should you have any questions about Talaera, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. โ๏ธ
