What is a "Meet Your Teacher" Session?

When you are first assigned a new student, the first session will likely be titled "Meet Your Teacher". There are several goals for the initial assessment session:

๐Ÿ‘‹Develop rapport

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ผDiscuss their role so you can pinpoint which English skills will be most relevant

๐ŸHelp them decide on the goals for the course and plan how you will achieve them

๐Ÿ“šGive them a tour of our platform and the Talaera Library

๐Ÿ“Do a sample activity or two to gauge their level and get them excited

How Long is the First Session?

The first session with a student who is new to Talaera is 45 minutes. Each subsequent session will be 60 minutes in length.

What Should I Complete in the First Session?

Here is the suggested structure for your first session together:

  1. Get to know each other (5 minutes)

  2. Needs and goals analysis (10 minutes)

  3. Platform walkthrough (10 minutes)

  4. Short activity (15 minutes)

  5. Scheduling next session and homework (5 minutes)

Please see the first session roadmap to get a detailed breakdown of these steps.

๐Ÿ’กTIP: Be sure to exchange emails with your student in the first session. ๐Ÿ“ง
