Understanding Your Communication Profile

Keep building your Business English communication skills

Updated today

Your Communication Profile provides an overview of your communication strengths and the areas you’re working on improving.

It helps you focus on the skills that will have the biggest impact on your work communication.

What your Communication Profile shows

The Communication Profile is Talaera’s way of showing your progress in the five key communication areas you need for work, across 500+ micro-skills.

Instead of a single English “level” like B2 or C1, the framework measures your performance across five key categories that matter at work:

  • Foundations – grammar and vocabulary for clear, natural English

  • Sharing Ideas – expressing thoughts with clarity and confidence in speaking and writing.

  • Understanding Others – following speech, text, and nuance

  • Conversation Skills – participating naturally in discussions

  • Culture and Context – adapting tone and style across people and situations

Why it matters

Traditional English tests only tell you your level. They don’t explain why you might freeze in meetings, ramble in emails, or miss subtle cues in conversations. The Communication Skills Framework gives you a personalized map of your strengths and blind spots, based on over 900 data points. This helps you understand where to focus so you can grow the skills that actually make a difference at work.

How to see your progress

  1. Take the Level Test → This measures your overall English ability and unlocks your personalized communication map.

❓FAQs

Is this the same as an English level test?

No. The Talaera English Level Test gives you a general label (like Intermediate, or Advanced). The framework measures how well you perform in real communication situations at work.

Do I need to complete the Level Test first?

No, at the moment these are independent. The Level Test is a great start as it gives you a baseline and unlocks a more personalized communication map.

Can I improve my scores over time?

Yes. Your Communication Profile is dynamic; it updates as you complete practice and coaching, so you can track your progress.

What if I score low in one category?

That’s the point—you can immediately work on that skill with targeted drills, instead of wasting time on areas you’ve already mastered.

How does Talaera measure communication effectiveness?

The framework uses over 900 data points to assess specific subskills in real workplace situations, giving you a clear, practical picture of your communication abilities.
